1. The problem is not that [typical manufactured goods] are cheap, or cost-ineffective to repair, but that they waste resources when they are discarded, rather than being recycled. Biology is also cheap, also extremely wasteful. The difference is that discarded organisms can be fully recycled quite quickly.
